"The Sunlight Zone"

|
Death defying aerial and ground based acrobatics, dance, a mysterious underwater world, and a gripping soundscape blend together in Tipping Point Productions newest multi-art fusion called The Sunlight Zone. Inspired by signs reading “beach closed”, four acrobatics set out to find the cause. What they have learned is that severe rainstorms can overwhelm a city’s outdated sewer system, sending a torrent of raw sewage into the lake.
The Sunlight Zone is inspired by the relationship between the urban environment and the water cycle that flows through and supports it. Humanity is polluting, diverting, and depleting the wellspring of life at a startling rate. This project will bring attention to the hydrologic web, with water being the life-giving connecting thread.
This project was made possible with the support of L’association des écoles supérieures d’art de Montréal, Ontario Arts Council, Quebec Arts Council and Canada Arts Council. In striving to raise awareness about water issues, The Sunlight Zone has joined forces with the Council of Canadians to promote their Right to Water campaign. In doing so we are adding our voice to the growing number of people around the world calling for an international treaty on the human right to water. |
